March 9, 2016---Wakodahatchee

Time to go check out the bird nursery again!  Still seems  to mainly be a baby anhinga nursery, but there are lots of other birds building nests still!
the boardwalk leading into Wakodahatchee Wetlands.
some red bellied whistling ducks
a Swamp Hen enjoying some dinner.
a young anhinga practicing holding it's wings out like it's parents do after they've been in the water.
Not sure if these are 2 young anhingas or one youngster and one parent.  I suspect the one on the left is a parent.
Momma anhinga returning and her 3 babies running over to get fed.

I was surprised to see she actually fed each one of them---actually having to shake the one feeding out so she could move to the next one.
 a couple more adolescent anhingas.
 a napping squirrel
Wood stork walking along flashing everyone
 a cormorant.
beautiful markings of the anhinga's back feathers.
 part of the wetlands
another view of part of the mile long boardwalk.
and more.
one more.
 a blue winged teal
glossy ibis
I think this guy is getting ready for vaudeville!
 a male downy woodpecker.
a female downy woodpecker
downy woodpecker, again.  Hadn't seen these guys before.
Hadn't seen these guys before, either---black necked stilts.
or this sandpiper
first time getting a good picture of a Kingfisher.
 He knows how to pose!
There are lots of cattle egrets nesting now.
a few more views of the wetlands and boardwalk.

back to the tree with all the baby anhingas.
a mating great white egret bidding me au revoir.
Can't wait to go again and see what new birds are there and which ones are having babies next!
