 June 29-- Red Reef Park:

We have been here before and knew the snorkeling wasn't good, but I keep reading that it is.  So I thought maybe we missed something and decided to give it another try.  It made for a nice beach day anyway, even though there's a fee to get into the park of something like $18.
I suppose if it wasn't so rough around the rocky outcropping it would probably be pretty good snorkeling there.
As it was, this time we did manage to find 3 small underwater rocky areas near shore and they had quite a few boring colored fish by them.
We also saw LOTS of baracuda!  At least 20!
We were there at low tide.  I'm thinking this area might be good on a really calm day at high tide.
One final look at the only outcropping.
Not the best snorkeling, but any day at the beach is a great day!

June 25, 2015---Marlins/Cardinal game!

We found out that "seniors" get in free on Thursdays.  So when the Cardinals came to town, Angie and  Josh took us to the game.  I was surprised when we got to our seats and they were about 6 rows from the field!  I guess it shouldn't be too surprising--by giving us those free, Angie and Josh had to pay the premium of $33 @ to sit by us.  They didn't mind, though.  Those seats would have been a whole lot more in St. Louis.

Loved that the stadium was air conditioned, too!  Must cost a fortune!!!!
The Cardinals even honored us with a win.  They're having quite a season!

June  24---Loxahatchee Federal Park main entrance, not the one closest to us.

Perhaps I'll take up birding and learn the name of some of these guys one day.

even saw a few baby gators here.
 and more birds
his big guy was by the fishing pier waiting for throw backs.
 the large fishing pier
 and, of course, sunset!

June 22--Deerfield Beach---

I don't like that you have to pay to park here, but most of South Florida beach parks are that way.  But it is a beautiful park and I'm sure we'll be going here often.

Can't believe this is only about 13 miles from where we live!

June 20---our 40th wedding anniversary!

Angie and Josh had us over for dinner and swimming in their pool.  A great way to spend our anniversary!

 Where has the time gone?!

June 15---Loxahatchee park

This is a park we like to go to to catch a sunset and watch the alligators.  We see fishing and boating going on here all the time, too.  It's only a couple miles from our condo.
Note the alligator near the middle bottom of the picture.  They're use to being fed so come to the shore when cars drive up.
We will be going here a lot, too!

June 13---Deerfield Beach

Now to start with my photo journal:

We're only about 13 miles from Deerfield Beach--the closest beach to us, so I try to get there at least once a week.  Even if it's only for sunset.

There will be many more entries for Deerfield Beach!

Our Apartment---

Our daughter, Angie, and son-in-law, Josh, have lived in South Florida for about 3 years now.  I love the sun, palm trees, sand, ocean, ... .  So I have been coming down to visit as often as possible and whining that we should move down here.  Finally, Ken agreed to rent a 1 bedroom townhouse for a year, about 2 miles from Angie and Josh, and see how we like it.

Our humble little abode---complete with garage for our bikes, the washer and drier, and even a car.
Angie even agreed to furnish and decorate the townhouse for us so we didn't have to move any of our old furniture here.  They hit estate sales, thrift stores, and Craigslist and turned our apartment into our own little resort condo!  Hard to believe she was able to do it all for about $1400! And they had it all set up by the time we arrived in June.  She got the beautiful solid wood entertainment center for $90.  New leather chair for $99 and white wicker chairs for dirt cheap, which she reupholstered. Assorted decorator items also from estate sales and Home Goods for cheap!   And they've "loaned" us one of their extra tvs.
The $50 thrift store couch, side table and lamp.
Tommy Bahama style dining room set for $100.  Artwork, too
 Patio set and plant.
Here's our entrance.  The garage is to the left.  The rest of our townhouse is up the stairs.  I'm doing a lot more stairs now then ever before!  But I like that our stairs are within our townhouse.
Ikea desk, 2 estate sale chairs, and their old guest king mattress.  Plus a set of  thrift store lamps for the matching thrift store wicker 2 drawer night stands.  We did bring my desktop computer with us.
Eventually I moved some pictures around so we have something on that wall
 The bathroom
From the hallway outside the bedroom
 The kitchen
Ken going out the front door and steps to the dining room, bedroom and bathroom.  There's even a half wall pantry dividing the dining room and kitchen
My pool!

So we left our 4 bedroom house with full basement and are now living in a 1 bedroom condo.  It does have some perks---like it's easy to clean and we have our own private pool (almost)!  Now we just have to keep from cluttering up our apartment like we did to our house over the last 45 years!
6-6-15 our move to Florida

And we're on our way to Florida!!!!  I never would have believed I'd be moving to Florida, but I'm pretty excited about it!  Even more so since we didn't have to pack up everything and unpack when we get there.  Angie took care of furnishing the apartment with estate sale and other resale finds.  I'm looking forward to seeing it.

We did have to drive there, though, since we need a car.  But we got to see some pretty spectacular countryside.
We spent a couple days with Tim and FAith in Knoxville along our way, then headed through the mountains to I-95.
love all the old barns along the way.  Also love all the barn quilt signs that many of them have in the Tennessee area.

 views of the Smokeys

never get tired of these views.

getting ready to honk the horn---it's a tradition in Tennessee to honk your horn in a tunnel.
bet it would be fun to ride motorcycles through the Smokeys.
then again, it's fun riding a car through them!
We must be going the right way!  This way to the beach!

Didn't even have to do much loading or packing and he's nursing his shoulder already!
And we're off to start a new adventure!  I'm sure it's going to be Grand!
