4-15-16 --- stormy spring day:
We haven't had much rain lately. It's been hot and humid---great for warming up the swimming pool! I'd bet the water got up to about 83 degrees. But a cold front made it's way down here today and brought with it some wicked lightening and cooler nights. We decided to head to our go-to place to watch nature close to home---Loxahatchee. Thought we'd watch the storm roll in and maybe get some awesome lightening pictures. That didn't happen (did see lightening, but in the opposite direction and mostly when we were leaving), but we did see our first ever water spout! Pretty cool, although it didn't last very long---maybe 2 minutes. We watched it reach down toward the water, then break up and disappear. Shortly after that, the winds picked up tremendously.
This was what the skies looked like on our way to Loxahatchee.
Here we are at Loxahatchee.
This is when we noticed the "tornado"---which I assume was probably a water spout.
Here it is dissolving
This was when the winds picked up.
Not too long after that, it calmed down and the sun actually started to peek out.
The alligators didn't seem too concerned. Here's one looking for handouts.
More sun and even a little blue sky.
More blue sky.
Turned out to be an interesting sunset.
We did get a little rain, but it never rained much harder then this---at least where we were.
more blue skies.
another view of the sunset.
Thought I was going to get pictures of lightening. Instead I got pictures of a water spout over the Everglades and a rather nice sunset.
