Feb. 6, 2016---Wakodahatchee with Ken:

After going for a bike ride and sitting around the house for awhile, I asked Ken if he'd like to go to one of the wetlands that Angie and I went to a couple days before.  He said ok, so off we went.  It was much warmer today (about 80 instead of 60).  We've been getting large temperature swings around here lately.  I'm told that's unusual, but what do I know!?  Anyway, we had a really pleasant breeze so our walk along the boardwalk was very comfortable.  It was interesting to see so many things this time that I didn't see a couple days before!
Did see one of these guys, but got a better picture of him today---a Pied Billed Grebe.
a wood stork in flight.  There were a bunch of these guys here today.  The other day we only saw 1.
Saw spoonbills the other day, but they're so cool I'm including him again, too.
 an osprey with a fish
 fish
a Florida softshell in the water.  There were a bunch of them out today.
close up of a Wood stork's head.  They get their name from their neck and head looking like bark of a tree.
The elusive squirrel!  We have about 10 of them living in our yard in St. Louis, but hardly ever see any of them (or rabbits) here in South Florida.
a Black and White Warbler---first time for one of these guys.
the black and white warbler again.
I think this is a blue gray warbler (?), but I'll have to verify that some day.  This one was in flight.
 another one on a perch.
a dove.  Not too exotic, but you really don't see too many of them here, either.
 baby gator
 yellow rump warbler
 blue wing teals
 an egret
large iquana
 mr. iquana, again.
 yellow rump warbler again?
cormorants changing guard of the nest
 baby anhingas
momma or dadda watching over the brood
Great blue heron and it's young'ens
an egret carrying a stick for nest building.
 the egrets squabbling
she's telling him to get out of here!
I believe this is a young  heron.
 a young blue wing teal.
Another great day to be in South Florida!
