The time finally came for Angie and Josh to get the rest of their furniture and officially be done with Florida. So I flew up to Atlanta to sit with the dogs while they came back to get their stuff. Angie actually came out a few days earlier and spent most of the time packing. When Josh flew down on the 4th, I flew up to Atlanta. Since we were basically passing each other in the air, he drove Angie's car to the airport and left it in a day lot. Of course, after about of month of beautiful sunny warm weather, severe thunderstorms hit today! In fact, they loaded the plane, pushed away, then said we were going to sit on the tarmac for an hour or so and wait for the storm to subside. But it really didn't even get bad while we sat there. No lightening, just a little drizzle; but lots of dark clouds heading our way. I guess there was a little break in the weather pattern because all of a sudden they said, buckle up, we're leaving. The ride through the clouds was quite bumpy, but we made it.
heading through the clouds
even saw a rainbow!
Especially since they get to go on regular walks now. Even Micky seems to behave well enough for a walk---most of the time.
They also spend more time together in the house. Before Molly was always in the back of the house and Micky was in the front of the house.
They don't have much yard, not even a tree, but they don't seem to care.
Micky does miss all the dogs and people walking behind their house in Florida---now he has a 7' privacy fence, but he occasionally still finds something to bark at.
But they end up spending more time in the house now.
Turned out to be Mother's Day weekend, so I was pleasantly surprised with a delivery of flowers from Tim and Faith. They sent it early and I got to enjoy them the whole time I was there.
Meanwhile, the kids were busy in Florida. They were smart, though, and hired 2 guys for a couple hours to load the 26' truck they rented. They, and Tim and Faith, hired them before to unload stuff, but this was the first time for loading. I wondered if they would be as fast loading as unloading and they pretty much were. For about $150, the hired help is so worth it!!!! (Turns out Tim and FAith were also moving this weekend, too, and hired the same 2 guys to load and unload their truck that they had unload last year when they moved from St. Louis to Knoxville. Those guys had it loaded and unloaded in less then 6 hours!)
Angie and Josh's 26' loaded truck! Even though it was loaded to the gills, they had to go back to Uhaul and rent another 5'x 8' trailer to be pulled with their Ford Edge SUV, too. They still didn't get it all. So we brought the rest of their stuff a week later when we moved up.
So sad!!!! Their empty Florida home.
They even flew Josh's brother, Ben, down to Ft. Lauderdale on Thursday to drive the 26' truck since he drives a Cintas truck for a living. They drove back to Atlanta on Friday. Then they flew Ben home Sat.
They did get started on the unloading before heading to the airport, but they also hired 2 unloaders to do the bulk of the unloading.
Josh and his shark
Supposedly this house is bigger then the one in Florida, but it took some work to find places for everything.
I stayed there a couple more days. Loved riding around checking out the area
distant mountains to the north.
will have to find this area again someday and walk the pathway.
looking down from Buford Dam towards the Chatahoochee
Even went by The Preserve at Mill Creek apartments to see if I could see the actual apartment we've rented.
The view to the side of our place.
to the side from our back patio.
What's suppose to be the master bedroom, but we didn't want to put the bed against a window so decided to make this the office/visitors' room.
the livingroom/diningroom/office. Looked good. Nice to be on a ground level for a change.
Angie and I did some more driving around sightseeing, too. Here we are in one of the neighboring old towns.
Seems like all the towns up here have their own cute little old towns.
cool old doorway and awning
It was a much prettier day for flying then when I flew out.
Hard to believe my year here is almost over!
I loved the sunshine, canals, ocean, palm trees, ... .
Florida drivers are by far the worst thing about Florida!
And I'm back----if only for a couple more days!
Oh my gosh! That dragon fly image is awesome ! :)
