We really do have a lot to be thankful for! Great kids, great in laws, reasonable health, financial security, each other, good friends and family. We got to celebrate Thanksgiving with Angie and Josh and his parents and brother who flew in from St. Louis a few days before.
I offered to bake the turkey figuring they'll need all the oven space they can get for all the assorted thing they make. So I threw it in the over about 1am and let it cook over night. I also made gravy and some dressing. We packed it up and took it over to their house about 2pm. Angie and Carol were still frantically cooking up more stuff. Ben was even keeping dishes washed up. I put our stuff over to be reheated when possible and got out of the way. As usual, Angie did a fantastic job with decorating and preparing for dinner.
She even made menus (something she and Faith have done for a few years now).
and set the table very festively.
Friends Tsin Tsin, Pete and their son Santino joined us, too.
the guys were getting restless by 3. Good thing Angie had appetizers, too.
Pete and Josh solving the problems of the world.
Ben dispensing ice.
Dinner is on!
the appetizers--- jalapeno dip and chips, and a baked olive thing. Both were great!
The buffet table
actually not a brown gravy---turkey gravy made with the drippings.
Carol made the potato bakes. They teased her that they were potato cookies. But they were good!
veggies.
Tsin Tsin made the sweet potato caserole---even used a granola in it for crunch---very good.
Later their little guy discovered their antique carousel horse.
Josh even dragged out an antique rocking horse and Santino was entertained for quite a while.
We even played Apples to Apples for a couple hours. After about 9 hours, we decided it was time to go home. It was a great day! Hope we have many more great Thanksgivings!
